Mascot Label Group Celebrates Breakthrough Year and Major Artist Signings << ALL NEWS

Mascot Label Group Celebrates Breakthrough Year

Robert Randolph, Doyle Bramhall II, Yngwie Malmsteen, George Benson, Vernon Reid, Otherwise Top List of New Artist Signings

Just over ten years since planting its flag in North American soil, the Netherlands based record label Mascot Label Group has firmly established itself as a market leader in the worlds of Rock, Metal and Blues. Thanks to a methodical increase in the breadth and scope of the US operation — which now includes A&R, in-house press, radio, marketing, and social media teams — the 100% independently owned and operated label is celebrating what has been a breakthrough year around the world, with major new artist signings including George Benson, Doyle Bramhall II, Hollis Brown, Yngwie Malmsteen, Robert Randolph, and Vernon Reid.

George Benson - This legendary American jazz guitarist, singer, and songwriter, whose "bluesy, soulful grit and gospel-tinged singing made him a commercial and critical success” (AllMusic), is working on a new studio record, tentatively slated for spring 2019.

Doyle Bramhall II - This blues rock guitarist from Austin, Texas gained fame as Eric Clapton’s right-hand man, gaining "considerable respect from a wide array of musicians for his work as a sideman and as a composer” (AllMusic). His fifth studio album will be released in fall 2018.

Hollis Brown - This New York City quartet has developed a rabid following since forming in 2009, playing "a tight, sparse, rocking version of classic rock, with songs full of melody, pop, country tinges, and an ever-present and slight feel of the blues, all of which gives the best of their songs a timeless feel” (AllMusic). A new studio album is slated for 2019.

Yngwie Malmsteen - This virtuoso guitarist from Sweden "became a pyrotechnic-loving rock instrumental god by the 1980s” and is "arguably the most technically accomplished hard rock guitarist to emerge during the ‘80s" (AllMusic). His new studio album will be released in 2019.

Otherwise - This five-piece rock band from Las Vegas was formed by brother Adrian Patrick (vocals) and Ryan Patrick (guitar), featuring a “searing hard rock sound” that rises “like heatwaves from the desert” (AllMusic). They are working on a new studio album to be released in 2019.

Robert Randolph - A pedal steel guitarist who made his name playing gospel, Randolph "honed his skills playing in church before beginning a career performing with members of the jam band circuit and forming his own group, the Family Band” (AllMusic). His new album is slated for 2019.

Vernon Reid - Rising to prominence as the lead guitarist of Living Colour and a co-founder of Black Rock coalition, Reid's "rampant eclecticism encompasses everything from hard rock and punk to funk, R&B and avant-garde jazz, and his anarchic, lightning-fast solos have become something of a hallmark as well” (AllMusic). His new album slated for 2019.

Mascot has signed and released an impressive number of new artists over the past few years, not only in the blues and rock genres the label is best known for — including prominent guitarists Sonny Landreth, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, and Steve Lukather, and rockers Volbeat, Black Stone Cherry, Monster Truck, P.O.D., 10 Years, and Shaman’s Harvest — but also a number of young, emerging artists, including the exciting young blues guitarist from Harlem, King Solomon Hicks.

This coming year will also see new releases from many of the artists on Mascot’s Provogue Records imprint, including celebrated blues guitarists Walter Trout, Eric Gales, and Quinn Sullivan, as well as the Billboard #1 blues artist Beth Hart, who will be releasing a live recording of her sold out Royal Albert Hall performance later this year. Hart is also recording a new studio album with producer Rob Cavallo, slated for a 2019 release.
