Out Now: Thorbjørn Risager - Live At Hotel Cecil

THORBJØRN RISAGER AND THE BLACK TORNADO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM
LIVE AT HOTEL CECIL IS OUT NOW VIA ARTONE/PROVOGUE

The award-winning Nordics Kings of the Blues, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado today release their stunning new album, Live at Cecil Hotel via Provogue/Artone Label Group.

To celebrate the release they have released the video for a hauntingly atmospheric live version of ‘Never Givin’ In.’ At nearly 11-minutes long, a hauntingly sinister intro gives way to a post-apocalyptic Sons of Anarchy soundtrack fed through an Ennio Morricone filter, that tantalises as it drags the crowd along. The goosebump-inducing version was originally seen on 2020s Come On In, which has gone on to become a staple of the band's live shows.

Talking about the release of the album Risager says, “The album really has that killer live energy which is always difficult to create in a studio. When you’re standing in front of such a wonderful crowd in your own hometown, you instinctively give everything you got.”

Situated at the heart of Copenhagen, the Hotel Cecil has played home to a Jazzhouse, a Playhouse and originally served as a meeting place, lecture hall, and administrative hub for the women’s emancipation movement in Denmark when it was built in 1936. Set to an Art Deco backdrop, it perfectly suits the smooth, smokey blues sounds from Denmark’s hardest working band.

The 8-piece band adorn the high stage, the curtains are raised and, as the lights are turned down low, the band's neon logo dominates your attention and the drape flanked room catapults you to another place and another time. Blazing a trail worldwide with more than 1.500 shows, they've captivated crowds with their dynamic stage presence and a sound that fuses soul Chicago blues, boogie, and rock 'n' roll with a voice where Ray Charles, Van Morrison, and Billy Gibbons meet in the middle.
